Shakti S. Singh
Now that Mayawati is back in power, her dream project, the
511-acre Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, might see the light of day.
The chief minister has instructed officials to speed up the construction of the
varsity.
"I have set a deadline of three years for the university project. A new
transformer has been set up to light up the campus to ensure that work continues
in the night as well," said Lalit Shrivastava, the newly-appointed chairman of
Noida Development Authority.
In another major decision, the NDA has decided to construct 18 flyovers and
underpasses in Noida on a priority basis. The total project cost is estimated at
Rs 7.25 billion.
The state government has also revived the much-awaited Delhi-Uttar Pradesh bus
run.
