The Bangalore Development Authority is expected to commence
work on the eight-lane peripheral ring road in the Garden City by early-2008.
The project will be implemented in two phases with an investment of Rs 2,675
crore. Phase-I includes development of Tumkur Road (NH-4) to Hosur Road (NH-7)
crossing Bellary Road, Old Madras Road, Varthur Road for a length of 65 km, and
phase-II includes Hosur Road to Tumkur Road for a length of 51 km.
Stup Consultants is in the process of preparing a detailed project report and it
will be completed by the end of this month. The land acquisition process for
phase-I has started and compensation packages are being worked out.
