Century to expand Nainital facility

Century Textiles & Industries Ltd of the B.K. Birla Group is expanding the capacity of its paper manufacturing facility at Lalkua near Nainital, Uttaranchal, by installing a 211-tpd paper plant. The project will entail an investment of Rs 385 crore. Work is expected to commence by December 2007 and is scheduled for completion by September 2008.
The proposed paper plant will use wastepaper and other unconventional items as raw materials. It will also include a 16-mw bagasse-based power unit. Avant Garde, Chennai, is the consultant for power plant.
"The company also plans to expand the capacity of its paper and pulp unit at Ghanshyamdham in Nainital district from 1,97,810 tpa to 2,33,810 tpa. The proposed expansion is scheduled for completion by October 2008," Navin Rastogi, Deputy Manager, Century Textiles & Industries Ltd, told ProjectsToday.
