Soilmec brings biggest piling rig to India

Soilmec Foundation Equipments Pvt. Ltd, the Indian arm of
Soilmec S.p.A, an Italian manufacturer of foundation equipment belonging to $1
billion Trevi Group, has deployed the biggest piling rig ever to be supplied in
India.
The hydraulic piling rig, model SR-100, can do bored piles up to a diameter of 3
metres and a depth up to 90 metres. The machine weighing 140 tonnes is being
deployed with a leading civil engineering company in India to be used for a
MMRDA job in Mumbai for making 1,200 mm diameter into very hard strata.
Soilmec is an international leader in design, manufacture and distribution of
foundation equipment for ground engineering industry. Soilmec India offers a
portfolio of 20 machines ranging from 20 tonnes to 100 tonnes capacity of
drilling piles from 400 mm up to 3,000 mm diameters. Soilmec, till date, has
about 75 rigs of various types working in India, including that of micro piling
and fore piling.
Speaking on the deployment of SR-100, Sanjoy Chakrabathy, Managing Director,
Soilmec India, said, "Infrastructure projects are going to get a shot in the arm
with the introduction and deployment of SR-100. The engineering teams at the
site are quite awestruck by the sheer size and the capability of the machine."
