Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Ltd has sought the
help of the department of fertilisers to upgrade its plants and get additional
allocation of gas. The company is also looking for financial assistance from DoF
for restructuring by converting its loan into equity.
The company is seeking DoF's help in retrofitting and upgrading its existing
ammonia and urea plants to produce 7-8 lakh million tpa urea at a specific
energy consumption of 7.0 Gcal per mt of urea.
The company has also asked the department to consider an alternative proposal
for a new brownfield ammonia-urea complex of 8.6 lakh million tpa urea at an
energy consumption of 5.4 Gcal per mt, based on economic consideration between
retrofitting of the existing plants vis-à-vis the brownfield plant.
BVFCL is seeking an additional firmed allocation of at least 0.23 mmscmd gas
from Oil India Ltd through the ministry of petroleum and natural gas, and has
requested DoF to intervene. The requirement of gas would be above the present
level of 1.72 mmscmd.
