Pragnya Pandey

Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Ltd has sought the help of the department of fertilisers to upgrade its plants and get additional allocation of gas. The company is also looking for financial assistance from DoF for restructuring by converting its loan into equity.
The company is seeking DoF's help in retrofitting and upgrading its existing ammonia and urea plants to produce 7-8 lakh million tpa urea at a specific energy consumption of 7.0 Gcal per mt of urea.
The company has also asked the department to consider an alternative proposal for a new brownfield ammonia-urea complex of 8.6 lakh million tpa urea at an energy consumption of 5.4 Gcal per mt, based on economic consideration between retrofitting of the existing plants vis-à-vis the brownfield plant.
BVFCL is seeking an additional firmed allocation of at least 0.23 mmscmd gas from Oil India Ltd through the ministry of petroleum and natural gas, and has requested DoF to intervene. The requirement of gas would be above the present level of 1.72 mmscmd.
