Flemingo wins Pune airport concession
A Business Correspondent
Flemingo Duty Free Shops has reportedly won the concession to
build duty-free shops at Pune international airport that is currently being
upgraded by Airports Authority of India. No spokesperson at Flemingo's Indian
office at Navi Mumbai could be reached for comment. At Pune airport, Flemingo
will be given 60 m2 of retail space together in the arrivals and departure
areas, under concession for a three-year period. The contract could be shorter
if AAI decides to privatize the operations of the airport under the PPP model.
Meanwhile, Flemingo, it is learnt, is also contesting the existing concession
awarded for the duty-free shopping zone at the new Bangalore International
Airport.
Flemingo was the sole bidder for the Pune airport concession. In an independent
development, Flemingo lost out on the race for the Coimbatore airport duty-free
concession to state-run ITDC Ltd.
In India, Flemingo operates airport duty free shops at Amritsar, Jaipur, Lucknow,
Ahmedabad, Goa, Mangalore, Calicut, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Kolkata,
according to information available with Projectmonitor.
