Quadrupling of railway line between Moula Ali to Ghatkesar in Telangana has been completed and commissioned.
The double line has been constructed for a distance of 12.2 km, in addition to existing double line along with electrification and automatic signalling. The quadrupling project has been done as part of MMTS Phase-II project at a cost of Rs 200 crore.
This is the first quadrupled electrified automatic signalling section on the South Central Railway.
Presently, 121 multi-modal transport service (MMTS) is operated between Falaknuma-Secunderabad-Hyderabad-Lingampalli- Ramachandrapuram.
With a view to expand suburban services, MMTS Phase-II project has been proposed for a distance of 84 km, duly executing different works. This includes new line between Telapur-Ramachandrapuram on western part of the city, double line with electrification between Bolarum- Medchal on northern side of the city.
It also includes quadrupling with electrification and automatic signalling (in place of the existing double line) between Ghatkesar-Moula Ali to ease congestion and enabling for running more trains. Doubling with electrification between Moula Ali-Sanathnagar along with construction of five new stations in the section for providing east-west connectivity bypassing Secunderabad station.
It also involves doubling with electrification between Falaknuma- Umdanagar on southern part of the city.
Works for the same are being executed by Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) in a phased manner. New rail line works between Telapur- Ramachandrapuram, electrification and doubling between Bolarum- Medchal have been completed and commissioned.
Moula Ali-Ghatkesar section is main rail line connecting Secunderabad, Kazipet, Nadikude (Guntur) and Sanathnagar (Bypass Chord Line) with heavy congestion due to multiple operations of passenger and freight trains.
