Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), delivered a keynote address at the Odisha Solar Investor Conclave hosted by GRIDCO in Bhubaneswar. Shri Das underscored the critical importance of accessible financing in expediting renewable energy (RE) initiatives. He highlighted IREDA’s role as a competitive financier with fully digital, paperless, and borrower-friendly operations, ensuring seamless support for green energy ventures.
The CMD reaffirmed IREDA’s dedication to supporting Odisha’s renewable energy ambitions, with the state targeting 10 GW capacity by 2030. IREDA has already approved funding exceeding ₹3,000 crore for renewable energy projects in Odisha, spanning solar, hydro, ethanol, and renewable energy manufacturing sectors.
Shri Das emphasized Odisha’s significant potential to become a leader in solar power generation and a hub for solar equipment manufacturing. On a national level, he shared that IREDA has sanctioned over ₹2.08 lakh crore and disbursed ₹1.36 lakh crore for renewable energy projects, playing a pivotal role in advancing emerging RE technologies such as ethanol, electric vehicle fleet financing, pumped storage hydropower, and green ammonia.
He reiterated IREDA’s commitment to supporting India’s renewable energy objectives, aiming for a 10-15% contribution to the RE debt financing sector.
