QatarEnergy LNG, recognized as a leading global entity in liquefied natural gas (LNG), has awarded a major offshore contract—described as an “Ultra Mega” project—to Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) Hydrocarbon Business, also known as L&T Energy Hydrocarbon (LTEH). The contract, part of the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Project (NFPS COMP 4), represents the largest single order L&T has ever received.
The awarded project scope includes comprehensive responsibilities: engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of two offshore compression complexes. These complexes will comprise expansive offshore platforms equipped with gas compression systems, power generation units, accommodation facilities, flare platforms, and interconnecting bridges. The infrastructure will be located approximately 80 km off Qatar’s northeastern coast.
Commenting on the development, Mr. S. N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, stated that securing this significant contract from QatarEnergy LNG is a milestone in the company’s history. He emphasized that the project not only expands L&T’s international energy project portfolio but also contributes to Qatar’s long-term energy security goals. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed by QatarEnergy LNG in L&T and affirmed the company’s commitment to delivering the complex project while adhering to high standards of execution, ultimately reinforcing Qatar’s global leadership in LNG.
Adding to this, Mr. Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director and President of L&T, highlighted that the award of such a substantial and technically complex project underlines the confidence that QatarEnergy LNG places in L&T’s capabilities. He noted that the collaboration reflects the strength of the strategic relationship between the two companies and reiterated L&T’s commitment to offering dependable and innovative project solutions that align with Qatar’s strategic energy initiatives.
