On 25 July 2025, the Board of Directors of Petronet LNG has accorded in-principle approval for setting up land-based R-LNG Terminal at Gopalpur Port, Odisha.

The 5 million tpa R-LNG Terminal will be executed at an approved cost of Rs 6,354.80 crore.

The project set to complete in three years replaces the earlier 4 million tpa FSRU plan.

Petronet LNG is one of the leading players in oil and natural gas industry space. The company’s promoters are GAIL (India), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL).
