The pump-set has a lower life cycle and operating cost It is locally serviceable at the company’s service centres It consumes up to 14% less energy for pumping the same amount of fluid These are ready-to-use pumps designed for effluent treatment plants and dewatering applications Mumbai/ Pune, 14th October 2020: Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) has launched a new range of energy-efficient, low maintenance SP Coupled pump-sets designed for effluent treatment plants and dewatering applications. This newly-launched SP Coupled pump-set comes with an integrated IE4 motor, which makes it most suitable for ETP/STP plants, draining foundations, trenches, and pits, handling rain and floodwater, draining accumulated water from basements, parking lots, highways, etc., as well as for handling light effluents, ash water, etc., in the industry. The pump is easy to operate, maintain, and service. It has a lower life cycle and operating cost. The robust design of the pump-set enables it to withstand extreme power fluctuation, thus making it comparatively more safe to use. Its strong body is also a measure of the higher reliability and longevity of the product. Elaborating about the new product, Mr. Suman Chakraborty, Associate Vice President & Head- Small Pump Business (Industry), KBL, said: "This pump-set has been coupled with Kirloskar Brothers-make of IE4 motor, which makes it a highly energy-efficient product. It consumes up to 14% less energy for pumping the same amount of fluid. The motor used is rugged and robust, thereby ensuring higher reliability. These pumps are also simple and easy to operate, service and maintain.” One of the other prominent features of the product include its fan and fan cover design for optimum power consumption and quiet operation. The high quality of its mechanical seal eliminates leakage, ensures lower friction loss and protects the shaft from wear and tear. This newly developed SP coupled pump-set can handle liquids with temperatures up to 120° C. The non-clog impeller of the pump can handle suspended soft solids of up to 40 mm and is coated with Cathodic Electro Deposition (CED) for corrosion resistance. Being factory assembled and tested, these pump-sets are ready-for-use at the customer site. They can also be serviced locally at KBL’s authorised service centre.

The Odisha government has sanctioned investment proposals worth over Rs 1,851 crore in metal and cement sectors. This is likely to generate employment opportunities for 1,624 people. The projects got approved at a State Level Single Window Clearance Authority meeting chaired by Chief Secretary A K Tripathy on 9 October 2020. SLSWCA gave in-principle approval to five planned projects. This includes a two million tpa pellet and grinding plant by Narbheram Power and Steel and expansion of a facility by Viraj Steel and Energy. The pellet and grinding unit will be set up at Joda in Keonjhar district at an estimated investment of Rs 350 crore, while the capacity of the integrated steel factory in Gurupali of Sambalpur district will be expanded from 0.1 million tpa to 0.3 million tpa at an investment of Rs 261 crore. BR Sponge and Power also got approval for the expansion of its plant in Tumkela, Sundergarh. In cement sector, Nu Vista got go-ahead for expanding capacity of its grinding unit from 1.5 million tpa to two million tpa in Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district at an estimated investment of Rs 598.62 crore. SLSWCA also approved the proposal of OCL India to set up 2.5 million tpa cement grinding unit at Biswali in Cuttack at an investment of Rs 441.43 crore.

The Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL) will set up an 11.5 MW waste to energy (WTE) plant at the cost of Rs 260 crore in Bidadi, Karnataka in the next two years. The plant will have indigenous products and equipment. The plant will need 600 tonne of segregated waste on a daily basis to produce power. The letter of award for construction of the WTE plant has been awarded to Noida-based ISGEC Heavy Engineering, along with its consortium partner Hitachi Zosen India, which have the experience of setting up of over 900 WTE plants across the world. The same consortium has set up a WTE plant in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, which has been running successfully for the last four years.

Low power MCU family offers power-saving peripherals, hardware safety and secure code protection October 9, 2020, New Delhi — System developers of battery-powered and other power-conscious designs with and without LCD displays can now easily add an array of innovative features using a new line of PIC® eXtreme Low Power (XLP) microcontrollers (MCUs) from Microchip Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MCHP). Packed with 14 types of Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) that operate outside the Central Processing Unit (CPU) for power savings, the PIC24F GU and GL families of MCUs feature the CIP called LCD with Autonomous Animation. Most display applications involve a few common animations like periodically alternating between displays and blinking of pixels to indicate operation. By using the integrated LCD driver with autonomous animation, developers can offload most of these simple animation routines from the CPU, allowing animation even in doze, idle or sleep modes for optimal power savings. To assist in quickly designing such display interfaces, the new MCUs come with MPLAB® Code Configurator (MCC) support. This graphical programming environment with LCD display designer helps eliminate the meticulous and time-consuming task of mapping the pins and segments. “The latest family of PIC MCUs adds new hardware features that improve low power performance, code protection and reliable operation in applications across multiple segments,” said Joe Thomsen, vice president of Microchip’s MCU16 business unit. “This scalable family of devices enable applications from cloud-connected low-power IoT nodes and sensor systems to automotive, consumer and industrial automation applications and helps developers easily add displays, robustness and security to their designs.” The new MCU families are also designed to make it easy to increase the security of an application, whether it is connected to the Internet or a standalone system. Microchip’s CodeGuard™ security Flash protection enables segmenting memory into boot and general segments to implement memory access restrictions. The Flash memory is configurable as One Time Programmable (OTP) via Microchip’s In-Circuit Serial Programming™ (ICSP) write inhibit feature that disables any further modification of the Flash through external programmers/debuggers. Together with these features, security can be further enhanced using Microchip’s CryptoAuthentication™ devices as a companion chip to add secure over-the-air updates and pre-provisioned cloud services. Lastly, the MCUs are supported by CryptoAuthLib, 16-bit bootloader, USB and many application libraries in MCC to significantly reduce development time and complexities. The integrated hardware safety features of the PIC24F GU and GL families enable reliable operation in harsh environments through Flash Error Correction Code (ECC), Deadman Timer (DMT), Windowed Watchdog Timer (WWDT), Fail-Safe Clock Monitor (FSCM), Configurable High-Low Voltage Detect (HLVD) and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC). Capable of operating in harsh environments, the MCU families are ideal for automotive, industrial and consumer applications. They feature an extended operating temperature of up to 125 °C, are automotive AEC Q100 Grade 1 qualified and have a diagnostic library for IEC 60730 (household appliances) Class B safety standards. Development Support The PIC24F GU and GL MCUs are supported by Microchip’s MPLAB® development ecosystem including Microchip’s free MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and MPLAB Code Configurator. Other supporting boards include the PIC24F LCD and USB Curiosity Development Board, PIC24F LCD Curiosity Development Board, and the PIC24FJ512GU410 and PIC24FJ128GL306 General Purpose Plug-In Modules (PIMs) for the Explorer 16/32 Development Board. Pricing and Availability The PIC24F GL3 family with integrated LCD is available in 28-, 36-, 48- and 64-pin packages as small as 4x4 mm (uQFN). Memory ranges from 64 KB to 128 KB Flash and 8 KB RAM. The PIC24F GU4 / GL4 family with integrated LCD and USB is available in 48-, 64-, 80- and 100-pin packages with memory ranges from 128 KB to 512 KB Flash and 32 KB RAM.
