On 28 October 2024, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Bharat Mata Sarovar in Dudhala, Amreli, a project developed jointly by the Gujarat Government and the Dholkaiya Foundation under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Initially, the check dam associated with the project held 4.5 crore litres of water, but after significant deepening, widening, and strengthening efforts by the Dholkaiya Foundation, its capacity has increased many-fold to 24.5 crore litres. This enhancement has notably raised water levels in nearby wells and borewells, benefitting local farmers and villages through improved irrigation.
Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects valued at approximately Rs 4,900 crore in Amreli, Gujarat. These projects are anticipated to benefit residents across Amreli, Jamnagar, Morbi, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar, Kachchh, and Botad districts.
Among the key initiatives, the Prime Minister launched various road infrastructure projects, valued at over Rs 2,800 crore, encompassing the four-laning of segments along NH 151, NH 151A, and NH 51, and the Junagadh bypass. A foundation stone was also laid for the four-lane expansion of the remaining section from Dhrol bypass in Jamnagar to Amran in Morbi.
Further, the Bhuj-Naliya Rail Gauge Conversion Project, developed at a cost of around Rs 1,100 crore, was dedicated to the nation. This comprehensive project includes 24 major bridges, 254 minor bridges, and multiple road overbridges and underbridges, supporting the socio-economic progress of the Kachchh district.
The Prime Minister also initiated water supply projects in Amreli district worth over Rs 700 crore. These included the Navda to Chavand bulk pipeline, which will add 28 crore litres of water, benefiting about 67 lakh people across 36 cities and 1,298 villages in the districts of Botad, Amreli, Junagadh, Rajkot, and Porbandar. Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for the second phase of the Pasavi Group Augmentation Water Supply Scheme in Bhavnagar, which will serve 95 villages in Mahuva, Talaja, and Palitana talukas.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for tourism-related projects, including the transformation of the Karli Recharge Reservoir at Mokarsagar in Porbandar into a premier eco-tourism destination.
