NHAI Highway Projects in India

In its continuous pursuit of enhancing the national highway infrastructure, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) achieved a notable milestone during the Financial Year 2024-25 by constructing 5,614 km of national highways, exceeding the set target of 5,150 km.

Furthermore, the capital expenditure for the development of highway infrastructure during the same fiscal year reached a provisional record high of over ₹2,50,000 crore. This surpasses the targeted expenditure of ₹2,40,000 crore. The spending for FY 2024-25, comprising both government budgetary allocations and NHAI’s internal resources, reflects a substantial increase of approximately 21% compared to ₹2,07,000 crore spent in FY 2023-24 and about 45 percent higher than ₹1,73,000 crore spent in FY 2022-23.

To support infrastructure development and optimize asset utilization, NHAI employed three key monetization strategies during FY 2024-25: Toll Operate Transfer (TOT), Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT), and Toll Securitisation. Through these approaches, NHAI generated a total of ₹28,724 crore. This includes the Authority’s highest-ever single-round InvIT inflow amounting to ₹17,738 crore.

NHAI remains dedicated to building a high-quality national highway network throughout India. These initiatives are expected not only to enhance the road transport sector but also to significantly contribute to national development and stimulate broader economic growth.
