The Ministry of Coal has received a total of 38 bids during three rounds of commercial coal mines' auctions. The last date for submission of technical bids for all the coal mines was 27 June 2022. As many as 28 offline bids were received against 15 coal mines under fifth tranche of commercial mines' auction. Under second attempt of third tranche, nine coal mines were put up for sale and six bids have been received against them. Under second attempt of fourth round, four coal mines were put up for auctions and four bids have been received against three coal mines.

GHCL, India inaugurated its new spinning unit at Manaparai in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. The new unit at Manaparai is the latest addition to the yarn division. The unit is equipped with 39,600 ring spindles to produce synthetic and synthetic blend compact yarn and has a production capacity of 23 tpd. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art textile machinery and the latest on-line quality control equipment combined with computerised information systems to enhance productivity and product quality. With the commencement of this unit, GHCL's yarn division will now have an installed capacity of 2,24,000 ring spindles and will be able to cater to premium segments both in the domestic as well as international markets. An investment of Rs 200 crore will be made, of which 75 percent has already been made and balance will be invested by the end of September 2022. The unit will generate employment for almost 300 workers daily.
