The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a contract for its heavy civil infrastructure business from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL). This is the biggest engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract awarded in the country to date. It is the first-of-its-kind project with a mandate to construct 237.1 km stretch of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project (MAHSR)-C4 package. The scope of work includes construction of viaducts, stations, major river bridges, depots and other auxiliary works. The estimated value of the contract is over Rs 7,000 crore. The company will deploy state-of-the-art construction methods and digital technologies to execute the project. The approximately 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, also known as the Bullet Train project, will cover 155.76 km in Maharashtra, 4.3 km in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and 348.04 km in Gujarat with 12 stations along the route. Upon completion, the High-Speed Rail will operate at a speed of 320 km per hour, covering the entire distance in approximately two hours with limited stops and in three hours with all stops. Package-C4 represents 46.6 percent of the total length making it the longest amongst all the packages, running elevated from Zaroli village on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border to Vadodara station through four stations at Vapi, Bilimora, Surat and Bharuch in Gujarat.

The Cochin Shipyard and Fincantieri of Italy have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the areas of design, ship building, ship repair, marine equipment manufacturing, besides training & skill development. The agreement sets the ground for a strategic partnership aimed at business development for mutual benefit as well as potential indigenisation in the identified areas of cooperation in line with the ’Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ vision of the government. The Shipyard with facilities both on the East and West coast of India is a leading yard in ship building and ship repair, both on the commercial & defence fronts. Fincantieri is a shipbuilding company and has built more than 7,000 vessels, operating 18 shipyards in four continents. The company is into cruise ship design and construction and a player in all high-tech shipbuilding industry sectors, from naval to offshore vessels, from high- complexity special vessels and ferries to mega yachts, as well as in ship repairs and conversions, production of systems, mechanical and electrical component equipment and after-sales services.

K Cement has inaugurated its new grey cement grinding unit at Balasinor in Mahisagar district of Gujarat on 24 October 2020. The unit has a manufacturing capacity of 0.7 million tpa. The plant is spread over an area of eight ha and has been set up at a total project cost of Rs 200 crore. It is part of the company's total funding outlay of Rs 2,000 crore to add 4.2 million tpa capacity, comprising two million tpa in Rajasthan, 1.5 million tpa in Uttar Pradesh and 0.7 million tpa in Gujarat. With this, the company's total installed grey cement capacity has increased to 14.7 million tpa. The new plant will not only create employment opportunities for locals but will also facilitate access to quality cement for consumers, coupled with on-time delivery. The new plant marks the company's foray into Western India. The plant will allow the company to cater to the demand in high-potential markets such as Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, among others.
