Bharat Dynamics (BDL) and the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for setting up a unit in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor. BDL, the Hyderabad-based state-owned, mini-ratna Category-1 company, will be setting up a manufacturing unit in Jhansi, as a part of its diversification and expansion plan. The defence public sector company manufactures missiles and underwater weapons for the armed forces. As per the MoU, BDL will acquire 215 acre of land in Jhansi under a lease agreement for an initial period of 30 years, which will be extendable up to 90 years. A new facility will be set up to manufacture propulsion system which will be used for various types of missiles manufactured by the company. This is an important step towards the backward integration plan being implemented to further strengthen the capability to deliver world-class weapon systems to customers. BDL is planning to commence operations at this facility by 2023, which will create employment opportunities in the area and pave the way for MSMEs ancillary units. As per its expansion plan, BDL is setting up units in various parts of the country. Presently, BDL has three manufacturing units, out of which two are located in Telangana and one in Andhra Pradesh. Further, BDL is in the process of setting up manufacturing facilities at Amravati in Maharashtra and Ibrahimpatnam in Telangana. The upcoming facility at Jhansi will be the sixth one and the first in northern India. Keeping pace with the current trends in the global defence industry, BDL is investing in acquiring new technologies in the field of missiles, underwater weapons and airborne products to meet the requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. The company is collaborating with Naval Group, France; Rafael Advanced Defence System, Israel; Thales, UK; STE "SPETSTECHNOEXPORT", Ukraine; MBDA, France/UK for various missile and underwater weapon programmes. BDL is also planning to establish a facility in the UP Corridor for testing requirements under ‘Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme’ of the Ministry of Defence.

LUVIH enters Beauty Products retailing biz - Noted actress Sreemukhi promotes the venture - The retail brand will open 150 outlets in a year Hyderabad, February 14: New retailing brand Luvih has forayed into Beauty Products retailing business. Luvih means beauty in Sanskrit. Promoted by noted anchor and actress Sreemukhi, Rasgau International, which owns Luvih brand, will initially sell perfumes in the outlets. Soon company will introduce beauty, grooming, hair care products. Sreemukhi is also the brand ambassador for the brand. Perfumes from 80 brands including 40 international brands will be available. They are priced from Rs 299 to Rs 7,500. During the first year of its operations, Luvih will introduce 10 global perfume brands for the first time in India. A total of 300 products will be on sale. Products of 110 brands will be available online as well. “I have been thinking of setting up a business for quite some time. I have now got partners who understand my thoughts. The experience they have in retail business will help Luvih brand. Demand for perfumes and other cosmetics is on the rise in villages too. My objective is to provide self-employment opportunities for the youth through franchise, with small investment,” said Sreemukhi, Director, Rasgau International. V Tirupati Rao, Srikanth Avirneni and Vijay Adusumalli are the other company directors. 150 stores in the first year.. Luvih has signed an agreement with Linen House, which sells linen garments, for setting up shop-in-shop outlets. These outlets will be opened in 23 outlets of Linen House located in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The brand is also talking to other retail chains for shop-in-shop outlets. Luvih will set up over 100 standalone outlets apart from 50 franchise stores in a year. A franchisee outlet can be set up with Rs 5-9 lakh investment. The company will take back unsold products.
