Hitachi Energy India has opened its third factory in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The factory spreads over 5,000 sq mtr, and will serve customers in power utilities, industries, renewable energy, and rail segments.

Okinawa Autotech will make an investment of Rs 500 crore to set up a new manufacturing plant at Karoli in Rajasthan. The project will come up across 30 acre of land and will have an annual production capacity of 10 lakh units. It will be fully operational from October 2023. The plant will employ more than 5,000 people. This will be the third plant of the company apart from the two manufacturing facilities at Alwar in Rajasthan. The factory will not only concentrate on the manufacturing of vehicles, but it will also have a supplier park that will take into account motors, controllers, battery packs and other electrical parts meant to support the complete EV ecosystem. The plant will have an in-house automatic robotic battery manufacturing unit along with a motor and controller plant. Moreover, there will also be robotic an automation of plastic body parts moulding and a state-of-the-art paint shop to facilitate the localisation in the production process.

Aarohi Polypack intends to set up LDPE sheets/ bags manufacturing unit at Umred Industrial Area in Nagpur district of Maharashtra. The project will spread over 1.98 acre of land parcel. As per the update gathered by Projects Today, land acquisition process is underway for the project. Work on the project was expected to commence by January 2023.

Nexcharge, an exclusive joint venture between Exide Industries (Exide) and Leclanché SA, announced the inauguration of its state-of-the-art, fully automated manufacturing plant at Prantij, Gujarat. The plant, which is spread across 6,10,098 sq ft (total area) is the largest in India for the production of li-ion battery packs and modules (pouch/ prismatic/ cylindrical). The facility has six fully automated assembly lines and testing labs with an installed capacity of 1.5 GWh and will cater energy storage systems for India’s electric vehicle market and grid-based applications. The company has invested more than Rs 250 crore in this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The company can now make 3 V to 1000 V battery packs with sizes varying from 10 cm to two mtr. The company’s production setup is divided into three sections- the module assembly has three production lines for assembling cylindrical, pouch, and prismatic cells. The pack assembly has two lines for high voltage and low voltage packs and the last one, the FG Testing section has a set of 20 testers for charging and discharging cycle and BMS functioning.
