Polavaram irrigation project

Polavaram irrigation1Irrigation & CAD Department, Andhra Pradesh has floated tenders for balance works of Polavaram irrigation project.

The work on the irrigation project will be carried out in two parts with a completion period of 24 months.

Part-A envisages balance works of investigation, survey, preparation of designs and drawings and LP schedules etc.

1) Construction of earth dam Gaps-I & III, earth-cum-rock fill dam for Gap-II, spill channel, approach channel and pilot channel,

2) Construction of spillway with crest level+25.72 mtr and its ancillary works and

3) Excavation of foundations of 960 MW hydro electric power house, approach channel, intake structure, tail race pool, tail race channel etc of Polavaram irrigation project.

The work undertaken in Part-A has O&M for five years including defect liability period of two years (LS contract system). The entire work will be carried out at an investment of Rs 1,771.44 crore.

Part-B envisages design, engineering, manufacturing, testing at manufactures works before dispatch, supply, transportation, storage at site, insurance, erection, testing and commissioning of 12 nos each 80 MW capacity vertical full, Kaplan turbine generator units along with all associated auxiliary and ancillary equipment.

It also involves setting up of 400 kV gas insulated switchgear and civil works of power house, pressure tunnels, approach channel, intake pool, intake structure, tail race pool (TRP), tail race channel (TRC) and other civil works etc and hydro mechanical works (gates, hoists and trash rack etc) of Polavaram hydro electric project. The work will be completed at a cost of Rs 3,216.11 crore.
