Peco Valves cater to oil and gas industry

Madhu Chittora

Mumbai-based Peco Valves Pvt. Ltd manufactures a variety of industrial valves such as gate valves, globe valves, swing check valves, ball valves and conduit gate valves. These are made of cast steel, stainless steel and alloy steel material. The company also manufactures various types of exotic alloy steel valves and valve actuators. Peco is the brand name for the valves.
Today, the company caters to the oil and gas sector in a big way. Almost 90 per cent of the production caters to this sector and to atomic power stations. "The company was started in 1990, with the production of valves catering to marine applications; in 2004, the company changed its strategy," said Deven Doshi, Director - Marketing. In 2004, the company ventured into exports and shifted its focus from the marine sector to the oil and gas sector.
The company exports 80 per cent of the products to Southeast Asia and the Gulf markets. "As the oil and gas sector is booming in these markets, there is good demand for our products," said Doshi. The company is equipped with the prestigious API (American Petroleum Institute) License, giving it the added advantage of exporting anywhere in the world. The company has orders from refineries in Malaysia, Kuwait, Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
The company also plans to cater to the European market in a big way. For the very purpose, it plans to acquire CE PED certification for its products by March 2009. Operating to its fullest capacity, the company doesn't have any expansion plan due to a gloomy situation in the Indian market. Only by April 2009, after checking the stability of the market, the company may opt for expansion, revealed Doshi.
The annual turnover is Rs 8 crore and by the end of this financial year, the company plans to touch Rs 9 crore turnover. The manufacturing unit is located at Vasai, near Mumbai, and has employed the just-in-time production system to dramatically improve production efficiency, particularly for smaller and more varied customer needs.
Capable enough to meet the valve requirements of any type and size, Peco Valves ensures timely delivery of quality products and aims for increasing market share by expanding customer base.
