OIL Green Energy (OGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Oil India (OIL), has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with four municipalities in Haryana for developing integrated Compressed Biogas (CBG) and Waste-to-Energy projects.
The proposed projects will be developed across the Hisar, Ambala, Faridabad and Gurugram clusters, with municipal solid waste processing capacities of 500 TPD, 900 TPD, 1,600 TPD and 2,000 TPD, respectively. Collectively, the projects will have the capacity to process around 5,000 TPD of municipal solid waste.
The facilities are expected to produce 70–75 TPD of CBG and around 50 MW of green power. The projects will adopt an integrated waste-processing model involving scientific segregation and resource recovery. Recyclable materials will be recovered, while wet and biodegradable waste will be used for CBG production. The non-recyclable dry fraction will be utilised for power generation.
The initiative is aimed at reducing landfill dependence and promoting resource recovery and clean energy generation. It will also support Haryana’s sustainable municipal waste management and circular economy objectives.
The projects are aligned with the Government of India’s GOBARdhan – National Circular Bioenergy Scheme 2026, supporting conversion of organic waste into CBG and other clean energy sources.
