The State Bank of India (SBI) has been allotted a 10-acre land parcel in Meerkhanpet, marking a significant step forward for its proposed data centre project within the Bharat Future City (BFC) development. This allocation follows the successful resolution of a dispute between the state government and the bank regarding a separate property in Raidurg.

The new arrangement involves the allocation of seven acres as compensation for the previously contested land in Raidurg, while the bank will provide payment for the remaining three acres. This development is expected to bolster the infrastructure landscape of BFC, which is increasingly being viewed as a strategic location for large-scale technology investments.

The inclusion of SBI’s facility adds to a growing list of major technology and infrastructure projects currently underway in Bharat Future City. Government officials from the Chief Minister’s office have highlighted that the region is rapidly evolving into a national focal point for artificial intelligence and data centre operations. Several high-profile companies have already committed to significant investments in the area, signaling strong confidence in the state’s digital infrastructure roadmap.

Among the notable projects already in motion, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has commenced work on its flagship data centre within the BFC precinct. Furthermore, in early September, HyperVault a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) finalized an agreement with the Telangana government to establish a 1 GW AI data centre campus, representing a substantial investment of Rs 70,000 crore. Other major developments include a 2 GW AI data centre by CtrlS, which is currently under construction, and a proposal from UPC Volt for a 100 MW facility that is currently under review by authorities.
