The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved acquisition of general insurance business of Bharti AXA General Insurance Company (Bharti AXA) by ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company (ICICI Lombard) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act 2002. ICICI Lombard is a general insurance company registered with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). It is engaged in providing a comprehensive and diversified range of general insurance products, including motor, health, fire, personal accident, marine, engineering and liability insurance through multiple distribution channels. Bharti AXA is a general insurance company registered with IRDAI and a joint venture held by Bharti General Ventures Private (51 percent) and Societe Beaujon (49 percent). It is engaged in providing general insurance products, including motor, health, travel, crop and home insurance to its customers. The entire general insurance business of Bharti AXA will be transferred by way of a demerger to ICICI Lombard in consideration of issuance of shares by ICICI Lombard to Bharti AXA.

For EV power designers who need to increase system efficiency while maintaining high quality, Microchip’s AEC-Q101-qualified devices maximize system reliability and ruggedness and enable stable and lasting application life. The devices’ superior avalanche performance allows designers to reduce the need for external protection circuits, reducing system cost and complexity. “As a long-time supplier to the automotive industry, Microchip’s continued expansion of automotive-capable power solutions is leading the transformation of power systems in vehicle electrification,” said Leon Gross, vice president of Microchip’s discrete product business unit. “Our focus is to provide automotive solutions that help our clients easily transition to SiC while minimizing the risk of quality, supply and support challenges.” Microchip has been a supplier to the automotive industry for more than 25 years. The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a contract for its heavy civil infrastructure business from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL). This is the biggest engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract awarded in the country to date. It is the first-of-its-kind project with a mandate to construct 237.1 km stretch of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project (MAHSR)-C4 package. The scope of work includes construction of viaducts, stations, major river bridges, depots and other auxiliary works. The estimated value of the contract is over Rs 7,000 crore. The company will deploy state-of-the-art construction methods and digital technologies to execute the project. The approximately 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, also known as the Bullet Train project, will cover 155.76 km in Maharashtra, 4.3 km in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and 348.04 km in Gujarat with 12 stations along the route. Upon completion, the High-Speed Rail will operate at a speed of 320 km per hour, covering the entire distance in approximately two hours with limited stops and in three hours with all stops. Package-C4 represents 46.6 percent of the total length making it the longest amongst all the packages, running elevated from Zaroli village on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border to Vadodara station through four stations at Vapi, Bilimora, Surat and Bharuch in Gujarat.

The Cochin Shipyard and Fincantieri of Italy have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for co-operation in the areas of design, ship building, ship repair, marine equipment manufacturing, besides training & skill development. The agreement sets the ground for a strategic partnership aimed at business development for mutual benefit as well as potential indigenisation in the identified areas of cooperation in line with the ’Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ vision of the government. The Shipyard with facilities both on the East and West coast of India is a leading yard in ship building and ship repair, both on the commercial & defence fronts. Fincantieri is a shipbuilding company and has built more than 7,000 vessels, operating 18 shipyards in four continents. The company is into cruise ship design and construction and a player in all high-tech shipbuilding industry sectors, from naval to offshore vessels, from high- complexity special vessels and ferries to mega yachts, as well as in ship repairs and conversions, production of systems, mechanical and electrical component equipment and after-sales services.
