City Gas Distribution_ProjectsMonitorThe city gas distribution (CGD) network in Bengaluru will be awarded only through competitive bidding process. This has been made clear recently by PNGRB while responding to a petition by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah. The Karnataka Chief Minister, in a petition to the petroleum ministry, had demanded grant of authorization for development of CGD network in Bengaluru to a joint venture of GAIL and Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIICDC).

CGD network operation, according to the PNGRB Act, 2006, can be authorized to any party only through the competitive bidding process. According to PNGRB, CGD bidding for Bengaluru urban and rural districts will be conducted in the fourth round of the bidding in the state which is likely to take place in the near future. The bid documents and maps of the geographical area of Bengaluru urban and rural districts have already been prepared for the purpose.
