Bokaro Airport to connect with Patna & Kolkata through Udan flightsThe Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing the Bokaro airport in Jharkhand to commence scheduled flight operations.

It will be connected to Patna and Kolkata through regional connectivity scheme Udan Scheme.

Presently, the Bokaro airport is owned and managed by the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and it handles non-scheduled flight operations of SAIL aircraft or VIP movements.

In order to commence scheduled flight operations, AAI has undertaken the development work at an estimated cost of Rs 46 crore. This includes construction of terminal building along with associated facilities such as car parking, air traffic control (ATC) tower, security huts, fire station, among others.

Over 80 percent of the project work has been completed and soon the airport will be ready for civil operations.
