Bridge and Roof to build 60 Bailey bridges in Odisha

Bridge & Roof Co. (India) Ltd, a public sector company under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, has signed two MoUs pertaining to the construction of Bailey-type bridges and dwelling units in Odisha.

In the first instance, Bridge & Roof entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Odisha government for construction of 60 Bailey-type bridges including approach roads in Kalahandi, Koraput, Nawrangpur, Rayagada and Gajapati districts. B&R is already implementing projects at various locations in the state like Meramandali, Angul, Derang, Paradip, Rayagada, Lapanga and Jharsuguda.

In the second MoU, the company signed an MoU with Bhubaneswar Development Authority for construction of 760 dwelling units under Rajiv Awas Yojana.

Bridge and Roof is expecting around Rs.400 crore worth of orders from Odisha government and its nodal agencies during 2013-2014 and more in subsequent years. With this the company hopes to achieve its goal of Rs.3,000 crore turnover by 2016.

In 2012-13, the company had an order book of around Rs.1,602 crore from various clients in both public and private sector. For the year ended March 31, 2013, the company executed contracts valued at Rs.1,299 crore against Rs.1,226 crore in the corresponding period of 2011-12.

In particular, the Howrah Works of the company executed some orders in 2012-13. These include:

* Manufacture and supply of wagons for Railway Board, New Delhi (Rs.3.21 crore).

* Manufacture and supply of 668 tonnes of Bailey Bridge components for Andhra Pradesh PWD, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura PWD, Punatsangchu Bhutan and private companies in Tripura and Andhra Pradesh (Rs.7.20 crores).

* Fabrication and supply of railway bridge girders of different spans for North Eastern Railway, East Central Railway, Kalindee Rail Nirman (Rs.6.43 crore).

* Manufacture and supply of 22 bunk houses and containers for NCPP-NTPC, BRBCL and B&R project sites (Rs.0.98 crore).
