The Convergence Energy Services (CESL), a subsidiary of public sector joint venture the Energy Efficiency Services (EESL), plans to tender 50,000 electric buses on behalf of states over the next five years.
The tenders will not be backed by subsidy from the Central government. These tenders are likely to be issued in phases with the first one likely to be kick-started the end of June 2022.
The initiative of 50,000 buses is approved by Niti Aayog.
