HPPCL Rajasthan Refinery (HRRL) project will be completed by January 2024. The Petroleum ministry will request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the refinery in January 2024.

Barmer refinery will create job opportunities to the people of Rajasthan. The cost of the project was Rs 43,000 crore in 2018 and has now gone up to Rs 72,000 due to cost escalation.

This refinery will employ 35,000 workers. Moreover, it will be able to generate over one lakh direct and indirect employment.

A school on the premises of the refinery will be operational by December 2023 at the expenditure of Rs 30 crore. A hospital will be operational inside the refinery by December 2023.

The greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex is being set up by a joint venture (JV) company HPCL Rajasthan Refinery (HRRL) of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and the government of Rajasthan having a stake of 74 percent and 26 percent.

The capacity of the complex is nine million tpa, which includes 2.4 million tpa of Petrochemical products.
