BHEL’s inability to adhere to original timelines has affected several Life Extension works on various thermal power plants across the country. These Life Extension projects are undertaken with the aim of sustaining generation and overcoming problems in plants operating beyond their original design life span. As a result of BHEL’s delay in execution, Life Extension projects of unit 7 of Harduaganj, unit 4 of Bathinda, unit 6 & 7 of Barauni and unit 2 of Muzaffarpur TPS are affected adversely.

Life Extension of Unit 7 of Harduaganj TPS was earlier scheduled for completion in March 2014 which is now rescheduled to June 2014. BHEL had earlier planned to achieve synchronization of Unit 6 of Barauni TPS by June 2014. The same will now happen only in August. Synchronisation of Unit 7 of Barauni which was scheduled for March 2014 has now been postponed to October. While BHEL had earlier revised the scheduled date of synchronization of Unit 2 of Muzaffarpur TPS as February 15, 2014, it has now further delayed the same till August 2014.
