UP Projects

On November 2, the Chief Minister  of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, announced ambitious development projects totalling Rs 1,24,389 crore for the Purvanchal region, historically considered one of the most underdeveloped areas in the country.

Interestingly, the bulk of this investment is focused on three districts in the region: Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, and Chandauli, which were once known as Naxalite strongholds. Sonbhadra will witness the implementation of 30 projects worth Rs 54,042 crore, Chandauli will have 46 projects worth Rs 16,161 crore, and Mirzapur will see execution of 46 projects worth Rs 5,957 crore.

Under the current government, the Purvanchal region has become an area of keen interest for entrepreneurs. The region has seen significant developments, including the establishment of expressways, airports, inland waterways, and improved rail connectivity. Additionally, there have been notable improvements in electricity supply, law and order, and the end of mafia influence, all contributing to the region’s economic growth. Following the successful UP Global Investors Summit in February 2023, the Yogi government is now gearing up for this ground-breaking ceremony.

It’s worth noting that investments are not limited to larger cities in Purvanchal. Smaller districts have also attracted investor attention. In Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Gorakhpur, substantial investments of Rs 13,949 crore, Rs 10,087 crore, and Rs 7,041 crore will take place through 105 projects, 249 projects, and 130 projects, respectively.

Similarly, other districts in Purvanchal are poised for development: Ghazipur with 85 projects at a cost of Rs 527 crore, Jaunpur with 90 projects worth Rs 2,299 crore, Bhadohi with 35 projects worth Rs 254 crore, Mau with 39 projects worth Rs 929 crore, Azamgarh with 93 projects worth Rs 595 crore, and Ballia with 33 projects worth Rs 1,586 crore.

Additionally, Deoria will receive an investment of Rs 711 crore through 66 projects, Kushinagar will see Rs 635 crore through 54 projects, Maharajganj will have Rs 572 crore through 83 projects, Sant Kabirnagar will benefit from Rs 484 crore through 25 projects, and Basti will receive Rs 1,339 crore through 90 projects. Furthermore, Siddharthnagar will see an investment of Rs 222 crore through 45 projects, Pratapgarh will have Rs 5,367 crore through 55 projects, Fatehpur will receive Rs 1,326 crore through 58 ready projects, and Kaushambi will benefit from Rs 308 crore through 30 projects. This substantial investment of Rs 1.24 lakh crore in Purvanchal is expected to generate significant employment opportunities.
