Coastal RoadThe Supreme Court has given the go-ahead for the Rs 14,000 crore Mumbai coastal road project, planned to ease flow of traffic between northern and southern areas of the metropolis.

The Bombay High Court had stopped the work on the ground of lack of environment and wildlife clearances.

However, the Supreme Court bench said that though construction work could start, the project proponent and the contractor will not carry out ancillary development work, like water parks and gardens on both sides of the coastal road, till further orders.

The SC posted the matter for final hearing in April 2020, which means the contractor can execute substantial work over the next five months.
