Spain’s Submer Group has announced an investment of Rs 19,000 crore in the semiconductor industry in Madhya Pradesh, which would create nearly 5,000 direct employment opportunities.

It was announced by Spain’s Submer Group at the MP Tech Growth Conclave 3.0: GCC – Data Centres and Semiconductors. The company will set up a data centre on an 15 acres of land allotted in the Acharpura industrial area.

Addressing the MP Tech Growth Conclave, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said India is transforming itself under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that the time when the country’s potential was stymied has passed. In today’s changing times, India is achieving everything on the strength of its capabilities, abilities, intelligence, and talent, he said.

Drawing parallels, Yadav said Madhya Pradesh was once known only for agriculture, mining, and forestry, but now, from defence to drones, science and technology to renewable energy, and industrial corridors to future-oriented sectors, the state is rapidly progressing.

“We are fortunate that the Tech Growth Conclave has reached its third edition. We have fulfilled the commitments we made over the past two years. In two editions, we received investment proposals worth Rs 46,000 crore, inaugurated 22 new industrial units, and performed ground-breaking ceremonies for four new projects,” the CM said.

The Submer Group of Barcelona (Spain) reiterated its commitment and is investing to establish a 1-gigabyte data centre, Yadav informed.

The MP government is committed to the development of all small and large industries, including AI, data centres, and semiconductors, and the state is progressing in all areas, including deep tech parks and data centres, he said.

Yadav also inaugurated 20 industrial units on the occasion and an important MoU was also signed between India Lead for Google Play and MPSEDC at the event.

On the occasion, the CM also announced the setting up of a state-of-the-art IT park spanning 300,000 square feet in the Indore IT Corridor, which will provide world-class facilities to companies in the GCC, data centre, and semiconductor sectors.

The Semiconductor Centre of Excellence will promote skill development and industrial capacity development in the region, he said.

Yadav also said that a large IT park spanning 400,000 square feet will be built in Bhopal, and land will be provided to tech companies here for plug-and-play operations. A plug-and-play facility will also be developed on a 5-acre area at the Satgarhi Smart Industry Park, he said.

Over Rs 12,000 crore has been invested in the digital and technology sectors so far, and further work is underway, with various leading tech companies set to invest over Rs 40,000 crore at the MP Tech Growth Conclave 3.0.
