More than 75 percent of the construction work for Tiruchirappalli airport’s terminal building has been completed. The Tiruchirappalli airport expansion project is now expected to be completed by April 2023.
The airport expansion project includes construction of a new integrated passenger terminal building at a cost of Rs 951.28 crore. The airport is being designed to handle 2,900 passengers during peak hours.
The expansion project also includes an air traffic control tower, new apron, associated taxiways and an isolation bay to make the airport suitable for multiple apron ramp systems for five wide-body or 10 narrow-body aircraft.
The Authority will undertake an estimated capital expenditure of Rs 25,000 crore in the next five years for the construction of new terminals, expansion of existing terminals, expansion of existing runways, aprons and airport navigation services infrastructure, at airports operated by it.
