Vedanta Aluminium to source green power for smeltersVedanta Aluminium will source 380 MW of green power on a long-term basis for its smelters.

Once online, the project has the potential to reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions by 15,00,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually.

This will be carried out through a power delivery agreement between Vedanta and special purpose vehicles affiliates of Sterlite Power Technologies (SPTPL).

The 180 MW of the renewable energy (RE) will be for the aluminium smelter at Jharsuguda, in Odisha, while 200 MW for the Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO) at Korba, in Chhattisgarh.
