Dr. V.K. Gupta

Born in 1948, Dr. V.K. Gupta had his early education at Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. He obtained his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT-Kharagur in 1969 and Masters in Structural Engineering from University of Roorkee in 1971. Dr. Gupta is currently Professor of Civil Engineering at University of Roorkee in Uttarakhand.

Dr. Gupta’s areas of interest are in ferrocement structures, concrete technology, high strength and high performance concrete, tension structures and construction material. He provides consultancy services for design of various types of structures, be it concrete, steel or ferrocement.

He is the recipient of Jai Krishna Award 1978 from Indian Society of Earthquake Technology and Khosla Research Award 1985 from University of Roorkee.

Dr. Gupta has more than 28 years of experience in teaching and research. He has worked in various positions including with Uttar Pradesh PWD and has published over 60 research papers in national and international journals and in symposia at home and abroad. He has guided more than 40 Masters Dissertations.

Dr. Gupta has served as member of the national executive committees of IGS, ICI, ISWE and ISET and has been associated with Indian Geotechnical Society, Life Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Concrete Institute, Indian Society of Earthquake Technology, Indian Society of Desert Technology, Indian Water Resources Society, Indian Society of Technical Education, Association of Consulting Civil Engineers and Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers.

Besides, Dr. V.K. Gupta has also organised several seminars, symposia, conferences and courses on the platform of Institution of Engineers (India), Roorkee, including an all-India seminar on technical education – vision 2020 and a specialist course on detailing of reinforcement for UP. Irrigation Engineers at IRI. He also organised the international conference on structural engineering at Ghaziabad.
