Minister of State for the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, inaugurated the Technology Centre (TC) at Devanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka. The inauguration ceremony also featured an exhibition showcasing the contribution of Indian MSMEs to the Aerospace & ESDM Sectors.
The Ministry of MSME operates a Nation-wide network of Technology Centres (TCs) to foster an enabling environment for MSMEs which will enhance their technological capabilities and competitiveness. Over the years, these Centres have contributed significantly in technology development, industry-grade training, design, prototyping, testing & production support to MSMEs.
The centre will serve as a hub for training, manufacturing and nurturing young talent. The network of Technology Centres run by the Ministry of MSME are playing an important role in developing young minds and providing them with industry-oriented skills. Minister also announced that the next Technology Centre is coming up in Belagaum, Karnataka at a cost of Rs 178 crore.
Emphasising the importance of entrepreneurship, the Minister encouraged students and young innovators to pursue startups and contribute to the country’s growth. She said the Ministry is focused on enabling students to study, train and develop their skills to contribute towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.
The TC Bengaluru has been developed by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India with an investment of Rs 156 crore on a 10-acre land parcel provided by the Government of Karnataka. Focus Sector of the centre is Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM). The Centre being equipped with state-of-the-art machines and labs, will provide MSMEs access to advanced technologies such as Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) Line, additive manufacturing, CNC 5 Axis and 3 Axis machines, Electric Discharge Machine (EDM), etc.
Dr Rajneesh mentioned that the Technology Centre, Bengaluru, will serve as a key institution for strengthening the MSME ecosystem in the electronics and aerospace sectors by offering advanced design, prototyping, production, training, and consultancy services. The Centre will play an important role in providing state of the art technology support in to MSMEs in electronics and system design manufacturing (ESDM). It will help generating employment, nurturing skilled talent, and promoting sustainable livelihoods not only in Karnataka but also to MSMEs across India.
