airport runwayOn 15 December 2022, the Union Ministry of Environment cleared the expansion plans of the Lucknow airport. Lucknow International Airport, an Adani group company, will invest Rs 10,700 crore into the airport expansion to increase the annual passenger handling capacity from 4 MPPA to 39 MPPA.

The proposed expansion will be carried out on 457.1 hectares of land. The airport is already in possession of the land.

The Lucknow airport currently has two passenger terminals – international and domestic. A third one is being added. In addition to this, a cargo complex would also be developed in an area of 23.14 hectares to handle cargo up to 0.25 mtpa.

The expansion plans also include setting up a multi-modal transport hub comprising metro connectivity, multi-level car parking, cityside check-in and self-bag drop facility.
