Foxconn Hon Hai, the Indian company of the Foxconn group proposes to construct a mega hostel complex close to its manufacturing unit in Chennai. The Hostel would accommodate around 60,000 workers.
At present, the company is employing around 15000 workers and it wants to increase its workforce to 70,000 in the next 2 years. The decision to ramp up the capacities was taken keeping in mind the increasing domestic as well as overseas sale of Indian made Apple phone models.
The hostel would be built on a 20-acre plot and work on the hostel has already started. On completion of the first phase in the next eight months, it would accommodate around 20,000 workers.
