BJP MLA Suresh Halwankar and his brother Mahadev were recently sentenced to three years imprisonment by a court in Kolhapur district for power theft. But BJP has been quick to send a clarification which clearly states that the measures adopted by the accused MLA are not a part of the Gujarat model of development.
However, Congress says that the incident shows how power hungry BJP people are. “Their leader is trying to steal power in Delhi and followers in their respective states,” indirectly referring to the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate’s attempt to unseat the UPA at the Centre.
