Jindal Mectec Pvt Ltd has announced the setting up of its new PUF panel manufacturing unit at Pithampur in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Set up with an investment of Rs.70 crore, the plant covers a total area of 9,000 sqm and is built on a 10-acre plot, a company release said.

Like the company’s existing plant in Himachal Pradesh, the new unit will also use latest European technology and an ozone-friendly process to manufacturing insulated PUF (polyurethane foam) panels for refrigeration and industrial buildings. When fully operational, the plant will employ around 150 people and will have annual production capacity of 1,800,000 sqm of PUF panels.

Along with PUF panels, the company also manufacturers refrigerated trucks, refrigerated doors and clean rooms. It is planning to enter niche operation theatre solutions, the company release said.

Jindal Mectec entered the field of PUF in 1983 when it became the first Indian company to manufacture PU (polyurethane) car seats for Maruti Suzuki. Jindal Metec is considered amongst the largest domestic producers of PUF, PIR (polyisocyanurate) and rockwool panels.
