Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari performed the bhoomipujan of the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Sindi Railway, located on the Nagpur–Wardha district border in Maharashtra.

The project is being jointly developed by National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), a special purpose vehicle of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), through AMARA TRANZ Solution. The facility will be developed across approximately 150 acres of land near Sindi Railway railway station.

Speaking at the ceremony, Gadkari said the logistics park would facilitate direct exports of cotton, cotton lint, yarn, textiles, oranges and vegetables from the Vidarbha region to international markets through JNPA. The facility is also expected to improve cargo movement through the Mumbai–Colombo–Dhaka route.

The project will include a dry port, cold storage facilities, warehouses, exporter clusters and a customs office. It will enable agricultural and industrial products from Nagpur and Wardha to be consolidated and transported directly to domestic and international destinations.

The facility is also expected to reduce transportation costs per container from approximately Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1 lakh by facilitating cargo movement to Bangladesh through Haldia in Kolkata, eliminating the need to transport goods to Mumbai.

Gadkari further stated that the first rake carrying Maruti Suzuki cars had already commenced operations from the project, indicating the start of rail-based cargo movement.

The Multi-Modal Logistics Park is expected to strengthen Maharashtra’s logistics and export infrastructure, reduce transportation costs, improve market access for farmers and industries, and generate employment opportunities for local residents.
