The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro Ltd reported new orders worth Rs. 3,627 crore it won in September 2014.

The Buildings & Factories business bagged a residential order valued at Rs. 1,231 crore from a private developer for the construction of two residential towers (208m & 232m) in Mumbai. The towers comprise three basements, a ground and a podium each with 53 and 60 floors, respectively. L&T’s scope includes civil, structural, finishing and MEP works.
The division also won orders worth Rs. 775 crore consisting of two new orders and a few additional orders from ongoing jobs. The first order is from a private developer for the construction of standard resort villas in the western part of the country. The scope involves civil, structural, interior finishes, electrical, plumbing and other allied works.
The company secured another order from a leading ATM manufacturer for the construction of its manufacturing and assembly facilities in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The project involves civil, structural, finishes and other associated works.

Additional orders were also received from various ongoing jobs in the heavy civil infrastructure, and water and renewable energy business.

L&T’s Power Transmission and Distribution business won total orders worth Rs. 1,559 crore which included a Rs. 346-crore major turnkey order from Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd for the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of a 400kV D/C transmission line between Korattur-Thervaikandikai-Manali in Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu power utility also awarded L&T an order for establishing 400/230kV AIS and GIS substations at Karamadai near Coimbatore, Poiyur near Trichy, and at Chennai Central.

Another EPC order was received from a private power venture to establish a 400kV double circuit transmission line in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. It also bagged a contract from PGCIL for executing a 400/220kV GIS substation at Pandiabil in Odisha.
Another order was secured from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd for the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 33/11kV medium voltage substations. This project is a part of the Power Distribution Network for enhancing electricity infrastructure under the RAPDRP scheme in major towns of West Bengal.

Larsen & Toubro Saudi Arabia LLC, a fully owned subsidiary of L&T, secured an international order from National Grid, Saudi Arabia (a subsidiary of Saudi Electricity Company), for the construction of an extra high voltage double circuit transmission line with a route length of 192 km.L&T’s scope involves design, engineering, testing and supply of EHV transmission towers, conductors, insulators, other transmission accessories, testing and commissioning of the line. The project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months.

Besides, L&T, through its joint venture company, L&T-MHPS Boilers Pvt. Ltd, secured an EPC contract worth Rs. 1,885 crore from NTPC Ltd for setting up two units of 660 MW each supercritical steam generators for Tanda TPP Stage-II in Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The company’s scope includes design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, commissioning and conducting performance guarantee of two coal-fired steam generator units with supercritical parameters.

This is the JV’s first order for supercritical steam generators from NTPC. The project is scheduled to be completed in 46 and 52 months for the respective units.

The Buildings & Factories Business of L&T Oman LLC, a subsidiary of L&T, won an order from the Ministry of Defense, Government of Oman, for the construction of Adam Air base in Al Dakhiliya Governorate.
