Panaji Smart City Development Corporation plans to convert the four roads into smart roads as part of a Rs 120 crore project. As many as four roads is being developed as smart roads with underground dedicated utility ducts. A 3.7 km stretch at St Inez and another 1.4 km stretch along the Rua de Ourem creek are being taken up under the project. The stretch from Goa International hotel to Taj Vivanta, Bal-Bhavan to Madhuvan Junction via Caculo Mall and the Sheetal Hotel Junction to Madhuvan Junction are also being developed as smart roads. Apart from shifting overhead power lines to high density polyethylene (HDPE) underground ducts, water pipelines, optical fibre cables and local television cables will also be shifted into dedicated trenches.
