Major developments in the Indian projex arena during the last week of March 2023

Announcements

The Central government is planning to develop an ‘Eastern Grid’ with 5,000 km of navigable waterway to boost regional integration and development. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal stated this at a summit in New Delhi.

Runwal Group has forayed into commercial real estate and plans to develop over 10.5 million sq. ft. office spaces with an investment of Rs 4,500 crore over the next four years.

ITC plans to accelerate investments with a corpus of around Rs 3,000 crore annually for the next few years, which will be geared towards enhancing manufacturing capacities and driving growth.

The Ministry of Coal, Government of India (GoI) has put on offer 106 coal blocks across 11 states in the seventh auction round. The auction process was launched on 29 March, 2023 by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Schaeffler India plans to undertake capacity expansion at an investment of Rs 1,500 crore over the next three years, which will include setting up a new plant at Hosur in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 300 crore.

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government will launch a 1,400 acres ‘New Ayodhya’ project in the next two months based on a sustainable development model.

Nath Industries is planning to set up speciality organic chemicals manufacturing unit with capacity of 6,150 tpm at Vapi in Valsad district of Gujarat.

Goyal Aluminiums plans to invest Rs 200 crore towards setting up an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh.

Bids Invited

Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) issued a tender for engineering consultancy services for flue gas desulphurization (FGD) systems at Rayalaseema TPP Stage-II units-3&4 (2×210 MW) and Stage-III unit-5 (1×210 MW) in Andhra Pradesh.

Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) invited bids for the construction of water supply system for full coverage of 35 partially covered wards of Darbhanga Nagar Nigam, Bihar.

Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC) invited bids for augmentation to Bhiwandi-Nizampur water supply scheme of 100 MLD at Bhiwandi in Thane district of Maharashtra under AMRUT-2.0.

NBCC (India) invited bids for the construction of a depot of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) at Hari Nagar in New Delhi.

The estimated value is Rs 319.97 crore and completion timeline is 24 months.

MMRDA invited bids for the design and construction of the flyover from Link Road Andheri (West) to Poonam Nagar (JVLR) in Mumbai.

Ircon International floated a tender for rail infrastructure works on Jarapada-Tentuloi section of Mahanadi Coal Railway (MCRL) corridor under East Coast Railway (Package -IV) in Angul district of Odisha. 

Lowest Bidders

Megha Engineering & Infrastructure was the lowest bidder (L1) for package-II and package-III of Khammam-Vijayawada greenfield highway (NH-163G) project of NHAI in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

PNC Infratech was declared the L1 bidder for a four-lane highway project with paved shoulders (Ganga Bridge) in Uttar Pradesh.

Dilip Buildcon was declared as the L1 bidder for Package-VII of Bengaluru-Vijayawada Economic Corridor in Andhra Pradesh. The contract is worth Rs 780.12 crore.

G R Infraprojects emerges as L1 bidder for Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur section (Package-VI). G R Infra also emerged as L-1 bidder for four-laning of  access-controlled greenfield highway section of NH-163G (Warangal-Khammam) in Telangana.

Aurobindo Realty and Infrastructure has been declared as L1 bidder by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for construction greenfield highway in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Project Orders

VA Tech Wabag (WABAG) secured an order worth Rs 4,400 crore for the 400 MLD Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Project from Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB).

Larsen & Toubro (Minerals & Metals business) secured two orders from the Vedanta Group. The first order is for setting up a five ltpa fertiliser plant for Hindustan Zinc. The second order is for expanding the capacity of the aluminum smelter complex at Bharat Aluminium Company, Korba, Chhattisgarh.

Tata Power Solar Systems received a letter of award (LoA) of Rs 1,755 crore for setting up a 300 MW domestic content requirement (DCR) based EPC project for NLC India (NLCIL), under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) scheme.

HSCC (India) has bagged a contract for construction work of the vertical expansion of service block (first to ninth floor) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) campus in New Delhi.

G R Infraprojects received an LoA for Khurda-Bolangir new rail line project. G R Infra also received an LoA from the East Coast Railway for tunnel works under Khurda-Bolangir new rail line project.

J Kumar Infraprojects and MEPL joint venture received an LoA from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for works of Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project stage-II.

Isgec Heavy Engineering received  Rs 197.25 crore order for from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) for renovation and modernisation of the electrostatic precipitators (ESP’s) for the 2×500 MW TPP at Chandrapur thermal power station.
