The UP State Bridge Corporation Ltd, the implementing agency appointed by the Uttar Pradesh government for construction of rail-over-bridge at Purania, in Aliganj in Lucknow, would open the bridge for public after April 15.

Purania railover bridge_ProjectsMonitorThe Purania ROB was launched alongside the Daliganj ROB project in September 2012. The agency was also given the task of completing Daliganj ROB, a two lane rail-over-bridge of 7.5m. Though the construction of both the projects started at the same time, the agency was able to handover the Daliganj ROB in a record time of nine months; while the Purania ROB was completed in 18 months due to delay in approval from railways and also because of the huge size of the project of 812m.

The Purania ROB is of four-lane spanning a length of 15m. The project cost Rs.61 crore was entirely borne by the state government. The ROB is expected to benefit more than 10,000 people everyday.

UP State Bridge Corporation Ltd is also executing major bridge works across India. The agency through Ircon International is executing part of the Ganga Rail Bridge project for Eastern Railway. The 4.556km long bridge is one of the largest rail-cum-road bridge in the country across river Ganga at Patna in Bihar connecting Patna and Hajipur (19km). Though the project was sanctioned in 1998, the CCEA clearance was given in 2006. The project completion schedule is expected to be extended further September 2014.
