In the SSC history text book of Maharashtra Board for 2013-14, Suez Canal has been referred to as “Sewage” canal. It may be a mistake on the part of the Maharashtra Board of Studies to refer to Suez as Sewage, but one thing is sure — if Suez Canal was on the Indian Ocean, it would have become a sewage canal by now, thanks to continuous discharge of effluents. If you look at the major metros of the country, especially during monsoon, it seems all sewage canals of the world are located only in India. Every major river has been turned into sewage.

We only pity the poor teachers. Now they have to not only correct their students’ answer sheets but also spellings in their textbooks, workbooks and question papers.
