Sagar_SamratThe project to convert Sagar Samrat, ONGC’s and also India’s first drilling rig, rig into mobile processing unit has been postponed once again. The project has missed the revised deadline which was May 2014 and now it is likely to be completed by December 2014. It is reliably learnt that the project had achieved an overall completion of only 64.9% as of March 2014.

Slippage in meeting the deadline has occurred despite ONGC keeping a close watch on the progress of the project. It should be noted that the Rs 762-crore project was originally scheduled for completion by May 2013. ONGC had awarded the project to convert Sagar Samrat to the consortium of Mercator and Gulf Piping for $ 153 million in November 2011.
