The Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and Power has provided an update on the government’s efforts in the field of solar energy. Since 2014, the government has given its approval for the creation of 50 solar parks spread across 12 states in India. These solar parks have a combined capacity of an impressive 37,490 MW.
Within these solar parks, a significant milestone has been achieved as solar projects with a total capacity of 10,237 MW have been successfully established. This is a substantial contribution to the nation’s renewable energy capacity.
As of 30 September 2023, the total installed capacity of non-conventional power was 132132.44 MW. Of this, the 72,018.04 MW Solar power accounted for around 54.5 percent of the total installed capacity. This was followed by the Wind power sector with an installed capacity of 44,292.38 MW (33.52 percent).
