The Uttar Pradesh government has commenced construction of over eight lakh houses under the PM Awas Yojana (Rural).
The project has received approval from the Union Ministry of Rural Development.
The Centre has sanctioned Rs 10,000 crore for the construction of houses under the scheme, on the basis of a proposal submitted by the Uttar Pradesh government. The houses are expected to be ready by March 2024.
With the approval of over eight lakh new houses, the state will have over 35 lakh houses built under the scheme in rural areas.
