The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the doubling of three railway lines, benefiting states like Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The total investment in the three lines running 464 km is an estimated Rs.7,200 crore. The lines in question are Kottavalasa-Korapur (189 km) passing through districts of Koraput (Odisha), Vizianagaram and Vishakaphatnam, both in Andhra Pradesh; Koraput-Singapur Road (165 km) passing through Koraput and Rayagada districts of Odisha; and Jagdalpur-Koraput section (110 km) passing through Koraput district of Odisha and Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.
