Western Railway has invited bids for the construction of the proposed Vayor–Lakhpat railway line in Gujarat, marking progress in the state’s railway infrastructure expansion. The project, under the Ahmedabad Division, has an estimated tender value of Rs 984.30 crore and will be executed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis.
The project covers the construction of the railway line and associated yards, along with the development of supporting infrastructure required for train operations.
The scope of work includes earthwork, track-bed preparation, retaining walls, drainage systems, major and minor bridges, road underbridges and limited-height subways. It also involves track laying and linking, the supply of sleepers and track fittings, and the installation of signalling, telecommunications and electrical systems.
The Vayor–Lakhpat line forms part of a broader railway expansion plan approved by the Union Cabinet in August 2025. The plan includes two new railway lines: Deshalpar–Hajipir–Luna and Vayor–Lakhpat.
Once developed, the proposed line is expected to improve railway connectivity across parts of the Kutch region, supporting tourism, commercial activities and regional economic development.
